New Kansas, a 30-minute live action short, is a "Wise Guy" story with a "Wizard of Oz" twist. Joey is missing, and Richie is going to make somebody pay. Numerous twists take the viewer on a wild ride through the underworld, the real world and the gutters.

Future film classes will be studying the numerous plot twists, literary loops, foreshadows and subtle references. Although the viewers will be surprised at the ending the first time they view this short, in retrospect they will see the clues that pointed to the conclusion in this cutting edge Generation "Y" who-done-it.

Dozens of actors cast by Shirley Abrams play multiple roles having a wide range of emotions, making this short a director’s challenge and an actor’s dream. Fortunately, the leads of several soon to be released features committed to this project before their "starships" leave the launching pad. Don’t be too surprised when you see the new "hot" talent in this project.

Originally conceived for film festivals, with the buzz already going on in the Dallas community, there is no telling just how far this short will go.
